Thanks for sharing your visit with us. I personally have both enjoyed and been challenged by the events shared over the past fortnight. It has obviously been a great adventure both challenging and rewarding.

Mark, at some point soon, once you have rested it would be great if you could distill your thoughts and write something that could go on the SMB website, together with a selection of pics.

Dear all,
It hink the time has come to say some thank you's to the people who have made all of this possible

Firstly I think we need to thank Sol and her team for extending her 'Family' to include our youngsters. For looking after them and welcoming them.

To thank God for that Ministry and all that has been achieved, Changed, Saved and Experienced through it.

I also think that we need to thank Mark A and the others in the team that went out in the first week, for the encouragement and support that they have shown and the provision of this Blog that has enabled us back home to share whats going on. I do hope the blog will enable the friendships to continue after our youngsters have returned back home.

And finally for tonight Colin for his many comments, posted so often, which have always been inspired thank you for that.

Thats it for tonight . Thank you God for what your doing in this ministry, it's a delight to be even on the edge of it,Please continue to bless it..Amen

Thankfully the caravan is structually OK and although looking slightly battered will be fine to tow. The insurance company are happy for me to use it for holidays this summer and then get the work done when we return in the autumn. Last time we needed parts it took 11 weeks anyway so thankfully it is sound enough to use in the meantime.

Mark - some very interesting photo's today - we must ensure that everyone in St Mary's & St John's sees all the stuff, and responds to the obviously real needs in and around the centre. Glad the caravan in OK - Helen e-mailed overnight asking for some prayers, so thankfully she is OK to tow north to Harrogate.
I think your sermons are going to be v-e-r-y- interesting for some time to come.......Colin

Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the pool. It's good to have a day to yourselves...you have to replenish your batteries every now and again.

Kates, I'm assuming you are black and blue with bruises as well as the cuts....old habits die hard...remember some of the spectacular bike accidents you've had...was this worse???

Reasons not to mess with children.

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".

The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.

Mark (A) Thank you for letting Katie ring me...it was wonderful to hear her voice, as clear as if she was in the room next door but it was very sad that she has damaged herself so, playing with the kids. Please could you pass on our thanks to all that have been to hospital with her, given hugs, wiped away tears and looked after her when we haven't been able to be there for her.

I've just caught up with the blogs of the last few days and have been moved by the descriptions of Smokey-mountain and Manilla Street Life.
I think that not only yourselves, but the rest of us who have read the narratives will never be quite the same again.
it reminds me of the "Boy and the Starfish Story" - if you don't know it then I'll simply summarise: You can't save everyone on the planet, but for a few, you can (and have) made a difference. Remain strong in Jesus!

Guys and Gals - you're into your second week now, and it is inevitable that you will feel a bit low, but hang in there - God is still with you all, your families and friends all around the world, and especially at St Mary's & St John's are thinking about and praying for you all the time!
Keep on spreading God's love to the children and helpers at the centre, but try and wean yourself off TGI's - it's not really healthfood!!! (only joking - it's a link with the decadent west that is helping to give you stability)
